The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office said on 29 October 2026 that Apple has accredited the national Coders HQ programme as an authorised education training centre. Participants gain access to Apple's global training network, Apple's own learning assets and Swift courses — the language used to build apps for iOS and macOS.
The move was announced by Dr Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office. He said a competitive digital economy begins with people who have the skills to embrace emerging technologies, and that the UAE continues to foster an environment where talent can thrive and ideas can be tested. The accreditation was reported independently by The National and in a Zawya press release, both citing the UAE AI Office statement.
What developers get
The accreditation delivers three concrete resources to Coders HQ participants. First, Apple's own learning materials and training programmes from its global network, including Swift courses. Second, coordination with international trainers and education institutions on app design, development and testing. Third, entry to Apple's ecosystem as formally trained developers rather than self-taught coders: the accreditation signals that the training meets Apple's authorised-centre standards.
For UAE businesses the shortcut is practical: instead of outsourcing an iOS build to foreign studios or relocating Swift engineers, companies can hire from a local pool of Coders HQ graduates. The same logic applies to corporate IT teams that need mobile apps as part of their digital business communication stack.
What Coders HQ is
Coders HQ was launched in January 2022 under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the National Programme for Coders. Its purpose is to train and retain app developers inside the country and reinforce the UAE as a regional tech hub. The programme runs with 40+ partners, including ADNOC, Majid Al Futtaim Holding, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, IBM and Dell Technologies. Apple's accreditation adds the first major iOS and macOS ecosystem partner to that list.
Apple context: ecosystem scale
According to Apple's 2025 transparency report, the App Store carries more than 2.17 million apps, counts over 60 million registered developers and has paid out more than $550 billion to developers since launching in 2008. For a developer starting out in the UAE, access to Apple-authored learning assets through Coders HQ is a direct route into the world's largest monetised mobile platform, no longer mediated by third-party course providers.
Why it matters for UAE business
For product teams and SMB studios the accreditation matters mostly on the talent side: a Swift engineer in Dubai is now trained under a path Apple itself recognises. That is important for App Store start-ups, for corporate buyers of custom mobile apps and for service studios selling development as a service. Choosing a jurisdiction for such a studio — a tech free zone or mainland — is best mapped against the current UAE corporate tax, visa and licensing rules; the practical checklist sits in «How to set up a company in the UAE in 2026».
